CarbonCure signs up BMO to supply carbon credits

Partnerships

  • CarbonCure Technologies, a Canadian green concrete producer using CO2, entered into a five-year agreement with BMO Financial Group, a Canadian financial service provider, to supply carbon credits.

  • The partnership allows BMO to purchase carbon credits, generated using CarbonCure’s innovative carbon utilization technology. The agreement will reduce and remove 5,750 metric tons of CO2. The carbon credits will be delivered to BMO every September beginning from 2022 up to 2026.

  • BMO is the first bank to purchase CarbonCure carbon credits, by permanently storing CO2 across the concrete manufacturing process.

  • Analyst QuickTake: This agreement follows BMO Financial Group's purchasing of carbon removal units from Carbon Engineering , a Canadian direct air capture (DAC) and air-to-fuel (ATF) startup in November 2021 . Carbon Engineering agreed to deliver 1,000 tons of carbon removal units to BMO.
