Princeton NuEnergy (PNE), a New Jersey-based startup that offers battery recycling solutions, along with Winstron Greentech, a subsidiary of Taiwan-based Winstron Corporation, has announced the opening of the former’s pilot lithium-ion battery (LIB) recycling production line in McKinney, Texas.
The pilot plant can process up to 500 tons of LIBs per year and will use PNE’s proprietary low-temperature plasma-assisted separation (LPAS) recycling technology to process LIBs from consumer electronics and electric vehicle (EV) battery packs.
Analyst QuickTake : Winstron had previously led PNE’s seed funding round in Q4 2021. PNE is yet to commercialize its technology and to do so it has partnered with electric industrial vehicle manufacturer Greenland Technologies Holding to recycle used lithium-ion batteries from the latter’s vehicles like electric forklifts, electric loaders, and electric excavators.
