Chromatic 3D Materials, a seller of 3D printers and related products, announced the launch of ChromaScan software, which allows manufacturers to print resin on non-planar surfaces—including metal, plastic, and textiles.
The software scans the object and manipulates the print path that conforms to the surface of the object. With this, manufacturers can reduce or eliminate post-printing requirements and improve efficiency in production as fewer labor and materials will be required.
Analyst QuickTake: The company seems to be more focused on offering solutions that require no or less post-printing. In September the company also introduced Smooth-Mode technology, a development that allows printing polyurethane parts without post-processing or surface finishing.
