3D Systems partners with ALM to accelerate material adoption

Partnerships

  • 3D Systems, a seller of 3D printers and related products, announced that it has entered into a partnership with Advanced Laser Materials (ALM), a developer of materials for additive manufacturing, to accelerate industry growth.

  • ALM will add 3D Systems’ DuraForm PAx material to its portfolio to enable its customers to use a unique copolymer compatible with available selective laser sintering (SLS) technologies.

  • This material can be used to make production-grade parts that require high impact and high toughness like orthotics, tooling handles, splints, braces, living hinges, liquid reservoirs, and enclosures.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Generally, sellers of 3D printers offer their own materials along with the printer, and compatibility issues arise when a different material is to be used. Through this partnership, 3D Systems would be able to expand its presence in the stand-alone materials market by offering materials that are compatible with other printers.
