Glovo, a Spanish online delivery platform, has announced the launch of a new business unit called “Q-Commerce” to deliver a wider range of goods (from restaurant meals, groceries, and pharmaceutical items, to books, music, beauty, etc.) within 30 minutes. The company plans to launch Q-Commerce in more localities in Spain as well as Europe and Africa over the next year.
This new unit will help accelerate its B2B logistics operations, utilizing its network of city center warehouses (called dark stores), which the company intends to expand over the next year. Currently, Glovo works with supermarket chains (including Walmart, Carrefour, and Kaufland) and major retailers (including Nestle, Unilever, L’Oréal), warehousing and selling their products from Glovo’s dark store network.
Glovo currently has 22 dark stores, hoping to surpass 100 by the end of 2021, and expand its “Glovo Market” reach while providing delivery services to other online businesses.
Glovo operates in markets across Central America, South America, Europe, and Africa, with headquarters in Barcelona, Spain.
