Volta Trucks, a Sweden-based developer of fully electric trucks, announced the completion of a series of engineering tests with a 16-tonne “Volta Zero” electric truck in partnership with the international parcel delivery company DPD in the UK. This was conducted as a part of wider beta trials for the truck.
The duo tested a design verification prototype truck on multiple pre-determined routes including motorways, A-roads, and urban centers but without cargo on board. The truck was based at a DPD location in Leicestershire, UK.
Analyst QuickTake: Volta Trucks commenced production of the design verification prototype of its 16-ton Volta Zero electric truck a year ago. Since then, it has announced plans to start customer trials by end-2022 and commence series production of the model in 2023. The completed trial today will help the company to materialize these goals in the future.
