MissionGo completes a drone test flight in Minnesota carrying a human pancreas

Product updates

  • MissionGo, a provider of unmanned aircraft system (UAS) solutions for inspections and deliveries, became the first company in the world to carry a human pancreas by drone after successfully completing a test flight in Minnesota.

  • The test flight was made in collaboration with LifeSource, a Minnesota-based organ procurement organization, and Mercy Hospital, part of the Allina Health system. It carried the organ from Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, and returned upon flying a 10-mile radius.

  • This marks the fourth test flight carrying human organs conducted by the company. Previous test flights include a trial run in Maryland transporting a kidney in April 2019 and two in Nevada transporting human tissues and a kidney in September 2020.

  • Maryland-based MissionGo provides pilot-controlled UAS solutions for inspections and delivery, focusing on human organ transportation and training and guidance for UAS startups. MissionGo operates in tandem with its sister company, MediGo, to facilitate monitoring the status of flights and organs via GPS.
