Israeli cell-cultured meat producer Steakholder Foods (formerly MeaTech) hosted its first-ever tasting event in the US at San Francisco’s Gallery 308 which also featured live 3D steak printing demonstrations.
Guests were served hybrid cultivated meat canapes–made using bovine cells extracted from Texas cattle–including beef steamed bun, grilled beef kebab, and Thai spicy beef lettuce.
The guests at the event were also given the opportunity to 3D print personalized steaks with a selection of three different cuts (entrecote, sirloin, and picanha) and three different fat ratios.
AnalystQuickTake: Steakholder Foods is arguably one of the leading players in the cultivated meat space and the only publicly traded cultured meat producer to have operations in the US. Along with the recent move by the FDA to provide a “no questions” letter to UPSIDE Foods ’ cultivated chicken, this tasting event indicates progress of the cultivated meat industry in the US and bodes well for current and prospective players.
