Bio-Sustainable Future (BSF) Enterprise, a British biotech company, announced its cultured meat subsidiary 3D Bio-Tissues (3DBT) is partnering with growth medium company Qkine, to expedite the development of cost-effective lab-grown meat.
Through the partnership, 3DBT will combine its animal-free growth media—City Mix—with Qkine’s growth-enabling protein and work toward optimizing the effectiveness of animal-free cultures in order to reduce dependence on other protein compounds, increase yield, and reduce overall costs.
While Qkine’s technology is said to aid stem cell culture growth, 3DBT’s macromolecular crowding technology is claimed to increase the speed of development of protein components in culture media thereby effectively reducing production timelines and associated costs.
