Moodle, an Australian provider of online learning solutions, acquired eAbyas, an Indian online education platform provider, for an undisclosed amount.
The acquisition is expected to give Moodle technical expertise in the development and provision of services including implementation, integration, and content hosting for the international market, as well as access to the EdTech sector in India. The business added that it intends to expand its staff in India to 400 over the next two years.
eAbyas provides a proprietary learning platform that focuses on skills development, support, theme, and integrations across educational institutions and corporations. Its main offering, CobaltLMS, is a Moodle-powered student information system that offers institutions a one-stop shop for on-campus, off-campus, and distance learning programs as well as a platform for MOOC courses. The platform currently serves customers across the US, the UK, Canada, Africa, and India.
Analyst QuickTake: To increase Moodle's visibility in the US, My Learning Consultants, Moonami Learning Solutions, and Elearning Experts, three Moodle Partner businesses with US locations, were acquired by Moodle in April 2021 and were combined to establish Moodle US, a single services firm.
