Raven SR, a producer of hydrogen-rich syngas, was awarded EUR 1.7 million (USD 1.75 million) in grant funding from the European Commission to deploy a waste-to-hydrogen production facility in Aragon, Spain.
The facility is expected to generate 1,600 tons of renewable hydrogen per year by processing nearly 75 tons of organic waste per day and is scheduled to begin commercial operations in 2024 to fuel hydrogen-powered vehicles.
The funding granted is part of a broader EUR 14 million (USD 14.6 million) European Commission grant to Hy2Market, a three-year project led by the New Energy Coalition to research and produce hydrogen.
Analyst QuickTake: Development plans of this EUR 35 million (USD 36.7 million) waste-to-hydrogen facility were initially announced in March 2022, following the incorporation of the company’s subsidiary Raven SR Iberia in Aragon, Spain. The facility will utilize Raven SR’s patented, non-combustion technology to produce clean hydrogen.
