LanzaJet, a LanzaTech spin-off that produces sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) using low-carbon ethanol, reported that the fabrication and construction of its process technology which converts ethanol into SAF is now completed, with site installation now underway at its Freedom Pines Fuels production facility.
This facility is the world’s first ethanol-based alcohol-to-jet SAF production plant. It is set to be completed in 2023 with commission and startup beginning the same year. The plant will produce 10 million gallons of SAF and renewable diesel per year from ethanol and will approximately double the amount of current SAF production in the United States.
The SAF produced at the LanzaJet facility will be compatible with existing aircraft and will help to reduce aviation emissions.
