Matternet launches world’s longest urban drone-based delivery route in Switzerland

Product updates

  • Matternet, a drone-based delivery solutions provider, has commenced delivery trials on a 3.1-mile beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) route in Zurich, Switzerland–reportedly the world’s longest drone-based delivery route over a major city.

  • The company uses the route to transport patient diagnostic samples between the Triemli and Waid Hospitals – both a part of Stadspital Zurich, a municipal central hospital owned by the city of Zurich.

  • The drones fly autonomously but are supervised by drone pilots at its Mission Control Center in Zurich. The company claims the deliveries can be conducted within seven minutes.
