Form Energy, a long-duration energy storage startup, has partnered with the State of West Virginia to build its first iron-air battery manufacturing facility.
Form Energy will invest USD 760 million to build the facility on the 55-acre property located in Weirton, West Virginia. The State of West Virginia structured a USD 290 million financial incentive package to support Form Energy’s decision.
The company expects to begin construction of the facility in 2023, following which it will begin manufacturing iron-air battery systems for commercialization in 2024.
