Swiftly adds Headsign Connector to its suite to provide commuters with up-to-date route information

Product updates

  • Swiftly, a public transit data platform, announced the launch of Headsign Connector, an automated solution that addresses inaccuracies in headsigns (digital displays showing the destination and route information on vehicles such as buses), to provide commuters with accurate, up-to-date information.

  • The system is powered by Swiftly's data engine, which transmits the assignment data for each vehicle using an onboard router. It enables agencies to view the data that customers see on headsigns during Live Operations and allows for the over-the-air upload of new headsign files, providing customer support, and operations access to the same data.

  • According to the company, the standalone solution makes use of existing headsigns and routers supplied by manufacturers like Luminator and Hanover that agencies have already purchased, negating the need for a customized vehicle logic unit (VLU) or CAD/AVL system. The firm claims the solution saves time for transport agencies by avoiding time-consuming maintenance procedures.

  • Analyst QuickTake: This specialized solution by Swiftly aimed at addressing a common issue facing bus operators and claims to fill an unserved segment of the public transportation market. Its compatibility with off-the-shelf hardware solutions is likely to increase its potential for adoption and hence provide Swiftly with an edge over its peers.
