Factorial Energy, a solid-state battery developer, unveiled its first 100 Amp-Hour (Ah) battery cell at CES 2023. This product was developed as part of the joint development agreement formed between Factorial and Stellantis in November 2021.
According to Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares, this solid-state battery is expected to deliver up to 30% higher energy density compared to conventional lithium-ion, thus enabling the possibility for a longer driving range or less weight.
Analyst QuickTake: The companies’ collaboration in November 2021 involved an agreement to advance Factorial’s high-voltage traction solid-state battery technology with a target to commercialize by 2026. This also included a strategic investment from Stellantis during Factorial’s Series D funding round in January 2022 , where the latter raised a total of USD 200 million.
