Project Eaden to use fiber spinning technology to create whole-cut meats

Product updates

  • German producer of plant-based meats, Project Eaden, announced that it had made a breakthrough in using proprietary fiber spinning technology for the creation of plant-based whole-cut meats.

  • The fiber spinning technology involves using edible plant-based protein fibers developed by the company—that have the ability to mimic the texture and appearance of animal meats—being wound around spools which are then bundled by a machine to create the final product.

  • Due to millions of fibers being bundled together, the process allows for the development of alternative whole-cut meats which contain a similar bite resistance as that of real meat, which the company claims will be its USP.

  • Analyst QuickTake: In December 2022, the company raised an additional EUR 2.1 million (~USD 2.3 million) following its seed round in June 2022 which can help expedite the process of getting its first steak product into the market within the year. Tender Food is another company pursuing fiber-spinning technology that raised a total of USD 12 million in funding. With neither company launching a prototype, it will be a race to the finish line to see who can get the product to the market sooner.
