Chicago-based plant-based seafood startup, Aqua Cultured Seafood, has announced the beginning of its construction of a new plant-based seafood manufacturing facility which will allow the company to scale production of its whole-cut seafood alternatives.
The new facility in West Carroll is three times the size of the company’s current headquarters and is claimed to be food-grade ready requiring only minimal upgrades to customize it for scaled production.
According to the company, its methods are space-efficient–similar to that of vertical farming–and only required standard equipment enabling a quick and cost-effective buildout of the facility.
