Delivers AI, a Turkish developer of droids for food delivery, has partnered with France-based multinational retailer, Carrefour, to launch droid-based grocery deliveries in Belgium.
Initially, the companies will conduct a test till end-June in the Corporate Village in Zaventem which hosts 9,000+ employees from multiple companies. Employees will be able to place orders from a list of 500 items including fruits, cakes, sandwiches, and readymade meals which are available in the Carrefour shop in the office park. If successful, this will be followed by another test in a hyper-center.
Depending on the success of the tests, Carrefour plans to launch the service in cities such as Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent, and Liège to deliver groceries to customers’ homes.
Analyst QuickTake: Automating the last-mile delivery processes is not entirely new to Carrefour. The news comes just a month after the company partnered with German autonomous mobility solutions provider, Goggo Network, to test autonomous delivery vehicle (ADV)-based deliveries in Paris, France.
