Yum! Brands acquires Dragontail Systems for AUD 93.5 million

M&A

  • Dragontail Systems, an Australia-based restaurant tech company, has been acquired by Yum! Brands, the parent company of KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and The Habit Burger Grill, for AUD 93.5 million (approximately USD 72.6 million).

  • The acquisition would enhance Yum! Brands’ delivery capabilities, as it intends to scale Dragontail’s artificial intelligence (AI)-based kitchen order management and delivery technology globally.

  • Dragontail Systems, listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, provides AI and machine learning-based delivery management solutions for restaurants. In January, the company announced its drone network for restaurants, which can be utilized to deliver orders to landing zones for pickup and delivery. The following month, the company partnered with the drone landing station developer Valqari to deploy its stations in the US.
