ESS, an NYSE-listed long-duration iron flow battery developer, partnered with Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, the national airport of the Netherlands, to provide its Energy Warehouse solution for a pilot project carried out by the latter.
The pilot project is examining the retirement of diesel generators at Schiphol Airport as part of the airport’s sustainability plan. As such, the Energy Warehouse will recharge the airport’s Electric Ground Power Units (E-GPU) which will be replacing the diesel ground power units currently used to supply electrical power to aircraft parked at the airport.
ESS will be delivering the iron flow battery solution in Q1 2023.
Analyst QuickTake: This is the company’s first partnership for 2023 following its partnership announcement with Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) in September 2022 , where the former agreed to provide up to 200 MW / 2 GWh of long-duration energy storage (LDES) solutions.
