Meati Foods, a Colorado-based startup producing plant-based meat alternatives by utilizing mycelium, announced the opening of its 100,000 sq ft production facility in Thornton, Colorado, that was partly financed by its USD 150 million Series C funding round led by Revolution Growth, with the most recent investment of USD 22 million coming in from Rockefeller Capital.
Dubbed the “Mega Ranch,” this vertically integrated facility will provide scalable production capabilities and end-to-end services for the development of the company’s Eat Meati range, which includes Classic Cutlet, Crispy Cutlet, Classic Steak, and Carne Asada Steak.
According to the company, this facility will be able to produce at a rate of tens of millions of pounds per year by late 2023, thus putting Meati at a scale on par with and even surpassing some of the US’s largest animal-based ranches, thereby putting the company in a position to achieve its goal of USD 1 billion in sales by 2025.
