Cloud-based music platform company, BandLab, acquired beat marketplace, Airbit, for an undisclosed amount.
BandLab plans to integrate Airbit's features into its creator platform, such as the addition of its free DAW and AI-powered musical idea generator, SongStarter. Users of Airbit will also be able to integrate Airbit’s features into BandLab’s creator platform. BandLab will retain all of Airbit’s current employees, although the CEO of Airbit will step down after a transition period.
Analyst QuickTake: The acquisition follows the launch of BandLab's premium profile boosting tool, “ Boost ,” in September 2022, which would provide further incentive for creators to gravitate toward the platform. As of January 2023, BandLab had 60 million creators on its platform—a glaring comparison to Spotify’s goal of achieving 50 million creators on its platform by 2030 .
