Kelpi, a UK-based biotech start-up has secured GBP 3 million (~USD 3.6 million) in seed funding. The funding round was led by Science Creates Ventures and Green Angel Syndicate, with participation from One Planet Capital, Bristol Private Equity Club, and private angel investors. The funding also includes GBP 665,000 (~USD 802,000) of grant funding from Innovate UK’s Combined Investor Partnership.
The funds will be used to scale up the development of prototype bioplastic packaging that is compostable. The company will also use funds for manufacturing pilots for its proprietary coatings for paper and cards.
