Enerpoly, a Swedish startup developing zinc-ion batteries for stationary energy storage, and Efficient Energy Technology (EET), an Austrian startup developing solar plug-in storage technology, have received a EUR 870,000 (~USD 935,180) grant from the Eurostars-3 program for their ZincMate project. This contributes to the total project budget of EUR 1.7 million (~USD 1.8 million).
The ZincMate project combines EET's technology with Enerpoly's battery and aims to develop an energy storage solution for EU households, including apartments, small living spaces, and shared housing. The companies will use the funding to develop prototypes of a plug-in storage system with rechargeable zinc batteries. The project will begin in 2023 and continue until 2025.
Eurostars is a funding program for SMEs that supports REPowerEU’s goals of saving energy as it accelerates the roll-out of renewable energy to replace fossil fuels in homes and in power generation.
Founded in 2018, Enerpoly develops zinc-ion batteries for stationary energy storage. The company is currently planning to commercialize its batteries with pilot projects, set to begin in 2023.
Founded in 2017, EET has developed solar plug-in storage technology that can be installed by amateurs, without the help of a technician. The company’s SolMate device has a patented measurement technology that detects the energy demand of a household via a power outlet connection. EET has sold over 10,000 units of its systems, with and without storage.
