3D Systems, a seller of 3D printers and other related products, has agreed to pay up to USD 27 million for violating export curbs.
3D Systems faced allegations that it exported certain items and/or intellectual property to China without obtaining appropriate approvals, violating US export control laws.
The company will pay: 1) up to USD 4.54 million to settle allegations for violating the False Claims Act in connection to contracts with NASA and the US Department of Defense (DOD); 2) USD 20 million administrative settlement with the US Department of State—half suspended if the money is used to strengthen department-approved compliance programs; and 3) USD 2.8 million to the Commerce Department for exporting metal alloy powder to China without a license.
3D Systems states that it is pleased to have reached a consensus with the agencies and plans to enhance its export controls program.
