Cargill and Spanish food tech startup Cubiq Foods entered into an agreement to co-develop and commercialize Cubiq Foods’ plant-based fats.
The partnership will entail the wide-scale development of Cubiq Foods’ Go!Drop, which is an emulsion of vegetable oils and water strives to imitate the visual appearance, mouthfeel, and bite of animal fats. The advancements in fat technology have versatile uses and are important for plant-based meat and dairy where fats and oil have significant functions in creating the structure, flavor, texture, and nutritional value of the product.
The announcement comes 10 months after Cargill invested USD 6 million in bridge funding in Cubiq Foods as a precursor to the announced commercialization and co-development partnership.
