Konscious Food to debut world’s first frozen plant-based sushi rolls, onigiri, and poke bowls in the US

Geographic expansion

  • Konscious Foods, a Canadian plant-based seafood producer, is expected to make its US debut at the Natural Products Expo West 2023. The company plans to unveil a lineup of frozen plant-based sushi rolls, onigiri, and poke bowl, along with seafood products such as plant-based tuna, salmon, and snow crab targeted toward food services businesses.

  • All of the company’s products claim Non-GMO, gluten-free, and 100% plant-based ingredients. The full complement of products to be debuted include:

    • Sushi Rolls: Available in four plant-based varieties: California Roll, Spicy California Roll, Rainbow Roll, and Tuna Avocado Roll. Priced at USD 8.99 for 8 pieces.

    • Onigiri: A popular Japanese snack of tender rice wrapped around savory plant and veggie fillings. It is available in four varieties: Kale Gomae, Japanese Vegetable Curry, Roasted Corn + Poblano, and Korean BBQ Mushroom. It is priced at USD 7.99 for two pieces.

    • Poke Bowls: Organic rice topped with plant-based fish, edamame, corn, mango, and sauce. It is available in two varieties: Tuna Poke and Salmon Poke and priced at USD 8.99 per bowl.

  • Founded by Yves Potvin, vegan chef and creator of Gardein, Konscious Foods products are made using konjac plants, tomatoes, carrots, and pea fiber. Additional feature ingredients include cucumbers and avocados, along with whole grains and legumes such as sushi rice, Jasberry rice, and organic red quinoa.
