German discount supermarket operator Aldi has announced its goal to expand the portfolio of plant-based products sold across its chain to 1,000 products by the end of 2024.
The company has planned several initiatives to meet its goal including “veganizing” certain products, which is to work with suppliers and remove animal-based ingredients from products with small animal-based ingredient content. Aldi also plans to introduce a new private label for all plant-based alternative products to increase transparency.
