No Meat Factory, a Canadian plant-based meat producer, announced plans to open a production facility in the US to expand its manufacturing capacity. The brownfield project will see an investment of up to USD 20 million in renovations and improvements to reopen a plant in Stanwood, Washington, 50 miles north of Seattle. The new facility is estimated to be operational by the end of 2023.
The facility will exclusively produce plant-based meat products. This will include capabilities to produce a full line of convenience products, including veggie burgers and nuggets, a veggie-based ground beef substitute, seafood alternatives, and extruded products, such as sausages and wieners. The plant will add to the company’s production facility in British Columbia, Canada.
Analyst QuickTake: In Early 2023 , the company raised USD 42 million in Series B funding to expand its US footprint and manufacturing capabilities. The new plant is likely to have been financed through these funds. The company also secured a USD 200,000 state economic development grant from Economic Alliance Snohomish County to support site engineering, development costs, and initial plant upgrades.
