Flyby Robotics raises USD 4 million in pre-seed funding

Funding

  • Flyby Robotics, an end-to-end drone automation and delivery company, raised USD 4 million in a pre-seed funding round led by MaC Venture Capital, with participation from Weekend Fund, Anthemis, Evening Fund, and other strategic investors.

  • The company intends to utilize the funds for further product development to achieve Level 4 autonomy (vs. the current Level 3 autonomy). At Level 4 autonomy, drones can function autonomously throughout the delivery process—but are overseen by a remote pilot who can take control of the drones if necessary (vs. at Level 3, drones can operate independently on most tasks).

  • Flyby Robotics also conducted a one-month pilot program in Mesa, Arizona in partnership with food retailers and snack brands, Nekter Juice Bar, MAD Greens, Tokyo Joe's, and Popadelics. Customers were able to place orders from the participating retailers via their apps for a delivery fee of USD 3. The company promised delivery in under four minutes.

  • The company also intends to launch pilot programs in cities including Los Angeles (California), Las Vegas (Nevada), and Arkansas later this year.
