Carbon Robotics, a Seattle-based smart farming startup that develops robots to improve crop yield, has raised USD 30 million in a Series C funding round led by Sozo Ventures, with participation from existing investors Anthos Capital, Fuse Venture Capital, Ignition Partners, Liquid2, and Voyager Capital. This funding round brings Carbon Robotics’ total funding to USD 67 million.
The company intends to use the funds to expand sales regions across North America, optimize and increase manufacturing, develop new software and hardware products, and expand into international markets.
As part of the Series C financing, Rob Freelen with Sozo Ventures and Erik Benson with Voyager Capital will join the Carbon Robotics’ board of directors.
Analyst QuickTake: This funding follows Carbon Robotics' September 2021 Series B funding round, which raised USD 27 million to increase production to meet the growing demand for its weed-killing robot . In 2021, the company noted that its production runs for 2021 and 2022 units were already sold out and that it is accepting orders for the 2023 growing season. The company expects its LaserWeeders to be active across 17 US states and three Canadian provinces through 2023.
