IDEX Biometrics’s fingerprint sensors pass Mastercard’s FTAS

Regulation/policy

  • IDEX Biometrics, a fingerprint sensor manufacturer, announced that its sensors have passed Mastercard’s Fingerprint Test Assessment Summary (FTAS).

  • The FTAS is a significant milestone in the certification process and tests whether the sensors meet the biometric performance, latency, and security specifications. IDEX noted that passing the FTAS indicates that the sensors are ready for commercialization.

  • The sensor is a key component in IDEX’s biometric payment card solution, which also includes Infineon’s SLC38 secure element (SE) and IDEX’s proprietary card operating system.

  • Analyst QuickTake: IDEX’s biometric sensors feature in the “F Code” cards that were launched by global smartcard manufacturer Idemia. Notably, Visa and Mastercard approved Idemia’s “F Code” in November 2021, thereby giving card issuers across the globe access to the platform.
