Wing, the drone delivery division operated by Google, has announced plans to expand its drone-based delivery operation to Ipswich, Australia, in partnership with DoorDash and Mirvac.
Wing has set up a center for drone deliveries at Mirvac's Orion Springfield Central shopping center, providing drone delivery services for food to the residents within a 7 km radius in the Ipswich area. Food from Sushi Hub will be available for deliveries with more merchants expected to join next week.
Google Wing was established as a subsidiary of Alphabet with a focus on a drone-based cargo delivery. Wing began operations in 2014 in Queensland, Australia, and later expanded to include the US (Christiansburg in Virginia and Dallas-Fort Worth in Texas) and Finland. The company has currently completed 250,000+ commercial drone-based deliveries globally.
