TGS Esports, a Canadian esports company with interests in esports gaming centers and tournament management, has signed a letter of intent to acquire all of the issued and outstanding shares of the fighting tournament organizer, Even Matchup Gaming (EMG). TGS will pay CAD 1.1 million (USD 900,000) by way of a share issue. Following the closure of the acquisition, Joseph Cribari, Chief Executive Officer of EMG will enter into an employment agreement with TGS for a minimum of two years.
Even Matchup Gaming owns and operates notable esports events such as Get On My Level (GOML) and the New York-based Super Smash Bros. event, Let’s Make Moves. Over the past two years, EMG has reported more than 18 million viewers and upwards of 100 million social interactions since 2019. GOML, the only Canadian tournament to be officially licensed by Nintendo, reported more than 1,700 competitors, and a total of 1.7 million live views in 2019. In 2019, EMG reported USD 300,000 in total revenue.
EMG aims to leverage TGS’ team and infrastructure to grow its revenue, player base and enter into new cities. Further, TGS will be able to provide its sponsors new opportunities with an expanded audience reach through EMG.
