Swedish game developer Goals raises USD 20 million in Series A funding

Funding

  • Stockholm-based game developer Goals has raised USD 20 million in a Series A funding round led by Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian’s Seven Seven Six, bringing the total funding to USD 39 million.

  • Goals plans to use the funds to continue the development of its new soccer game and also to expand the team from 50 to 75 members while accelerating the production processes.

  • Goals was founded in 2021 by Andreas Thorstensson, a former Counter-Strike World Champion and the founder of esports team, SK Gaming. The company aims to disrupt the soccer game genre by offering both standard 11v11 matches and a new 5v5 mode, which is designed to emphasize teamwork and make the game compatible with esports at its launch. The game will be available on consoles and PC with crossplay between platforms.
