Databricks, a data science software company, has acquired Okera, a no-code data governance platform, for an undisclosed amount.
Databricks, which recently launched its own large language model (LLM), intends to incorporate Okera's technology into its existing data and AI governance solution, Unity Catalog. Databricks also aims to introduce more APIs that can be leveraged by its data governance partners to provide enhanced solutions to their customers.
Databricks offers a software platform that provides solutions for users to unify analytics across the business, data science, and data engineering. The open-source platform allows data teams to collaborate on data and AI workflows, as well as unify data ecosystems with open standards and formats. The company partners with over 450 companies across the data science landscape and serves over 5,000 organizations globally, including Comcast, Condé Nast, H&M, and over 40% of the Fortune 500.
