Beyond Steak, a product by California-based plant-based meat developer Beyond Meat, has received certification by the American Heart Association’s Heart-Check Food Certification Program, making it the first plant-based meat to attain this milestone.
Products that receive the heart-check mark have met the nutritional requirements of the American Heart Association, including being low in saturated and trans fats, cholesterol, and sodium while containing over 10% of the daily value of essential nutrients.
According to the company, each serving of Beyond Steak offers 21 g of protein, 170 calories, and 1 g of saturated fat with no cholesterol, GMOs, antibiotics, or hormones.
