Airwallex, a cross-border payments infrastructure platform, has launched its operations in Israel, with the intention of further expanding its presence across the EMEA in 2023.
The company has reportedly chosen Israel as the initial point of EMEA expansion due to strong customer demand and Israel’s advanced technology ecosystem.
Analyst QuickTake: This expansion comes on the heels of Airwallex obtaining a payment business license in China in March, through the acquisition of Guangzhou Shang Wu Tong Network Technology Co Ltd. Moreover, the company raised a USD 100 million extension to its Series E funding round last October and partially earmarked the funds for geographic expansion.
