Via, the developer of mobility platform Transit Tech, announced a partnership with Autoguidovie, the largest private bus operator in Italy, to drive the development of technologically enhanced, flexible, and sustainable public transportation in Italy.
The partnership aims to relaunch five app-based public transportation services in specific regions, utilizing Via's user-friendly "MIOBUS" booking app, which will be accessible on Android and iOS devices from June onwards, allowing users to conveniently book rides in advance or on short notice at no cost.
According to the firm, the app achieved notable success, with 15,000+ active accounts in different service zones, transporting ~50,000 passengers annually, and maintaining a fleet of 15 buses. Further, the app claims to have a 97% booking rate for Noctibus night rides.
Analyst QuickTake: Via's partnership with Autoguidovie in Italy reflects its strategic expansion efforts in the transportation market. This aligns with Via's past global expansions, such as forming alliances with IVECO BUS and launching innovative services in Japan and Germany. Via's future strategy likely involves further geographic expansion, leveraging its proprietary technology to enhance transportation efficiency and accessibility in new markets worldwide.
