Prime Roots raises USD 30 million in Series B funding

Funding

  • Prime Roots, a developer of deli-style plant-based meat products from koji and mycelium, has raised USD 30 million in a Series B funding round, with participation from True Ventures, Pangaea Ventures, Prosus Ventures, Tier Capital, and Monde Nissin, among others. This brings the total funding raised by the company to USD 50 million.

  • The funds will be utilized to scale and expand its offerings to deli counters and restaurants nationwide.

  • Prime Roots claims to be the first and only plant-based meat brand that develops deli meat alternatives that are identical in taste and texture to their traditional counterparts. According to the company, its chef-developed portfolio is free from nitrates, preservatives, soy, cholesterol, and wheat, and includes products such as cracked-pepper turkey, black forest ham, hickory bacon, salami, and pepperoni.
