DroneUp lays off staff; moves away from other drone-based services to focus on last-mile delivery

Management news

  • DroneUp, a Walmart-backed drone solutions provider, has laid off an undisclosed number of its current 418 staff members, reportedly affecting “a small percentage” of staff, according to sources.

  • The layoffs come as the company looks to focus more on drone-based delivery and move away from other services such as construction, real estate monitoring, aerial data capturing, and marketing. The company has taken this strategic move to support the continued growing demand for its drone-based delivery services.

  • DroneUp also mentioned that it intends to hire more employees than those who were laid off over the next six months in order to support the new strategy.
