Senoptica Technologies raises EUR 550,000 in first close of bridge funding round

Funding

  • Senoptica Technologies, a food waste-combating sensor technology startup, has raised EUR 550,000 (~USD 594,00) in the first close of its EUR 1.5 million (~USD 1.6 million) bridge funding round.

  • The funding will enable Senoptica Technologies to obtain regulatory approval, complete a pilot with a global retailer, and make initial sales.

  • The company reported that it plans to launch its technology in Q2 2024, growing into a 15-strong team over the next two years.

  • Founded in 2019, Senoptica Technologies is working on a novel packaging sensor technology to reduce food waste. The Senoptica sensor is made using food-safe ink that is directly printed onto the inside of food packaging. This ink allows the sensor to measure the atmosphere surrounding fresh food in packages, providing real-time feedback on food conditions. Additionally, the food-safe ink can be printed on labels for manual application, enabling real-time oxygen measurement. The company notes that it has successfully produced and tested the technology, and it is currently being piloted with a global retailer and a large European food company.
