Amogy, a company presenting ammonia as an emission-free fuel source, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Skansi Offshore, a shipping company, and SEAM, a Norwegian system developer and integrator.
Under this partnership, the three companies will explore potential technology collaboration in ammonia applications to decarbonize the offshore industry. They will initially focus on a possible retrofit of Amogy’s ammonia-to-power system on one of Skansi’s existing vessels to enable zero-emission operations.
Analyst QuickTake: In March 2023 , Amogy raised USD 139 million in a Series B-1 led by SK Innovation. The funding was used for organizational development efforts to support go-to-market strategies and the commercialization of its first product. Amogy has so far carried out several demonstrations of its emission-free technologies, including a 5 kW emission-free, ammonia-powered drone in July 2021; a 100 kW powerpack in a tractor in May 2022; and a 300 kW ammonia-powered semi-truck during Q1 2023. The company intends to present its first commercial offering in 2024.
