BiomeSense, a bioinformatics company focusing on the microbiome, has raised USD 3 million in an oversubscribed funding round led by Bluestein Ventures, with participation from Harvest Ridge Capital, SOSV, and Seerave Foundation.
The funds will be used for the development of BiomeSense's "smart bathroom" technology, Gut Lab, and the expansion of its bioinformatics platform, Metabiome, with a commercial launch expected within the year.
BiomeSense is developing tools to unlock the potential of the microbiome in precision medicine. Its "smart bathroom" technology and bioinformatics platform enable the generation and analysis of large-scale microbiome datasets. The company claims that its GutLab automated laboratory system and MetaBiome bioinformatics platform are the first-ever solutions to provide continuous, at-home tracking and analysis of the microbiome. BiomeSense aims to partner with biopharma companies, probiotic companies, contract research organizations, and microbiome researchers.
