Proxima Fusion, a German company designing fusion power plants based on the stellarator concept, has raised EUR 7 million (~USD 7.5 million) in a pre-seed funding round co-led by Plural and UVC Partners.
Proxima Fusion is the first spin-out from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP), which built and operates the most advanced stellarator currently available, W7-X. Proxima Fusion aims to deploy a new high-performance stellarator, with plans to develop a first-of-a-kind fusion power plant within the 2030s.
