Cur8, a UK-based carbon reduction marketplace has raised GBP 5.3 million (USD 6.5 million) in a pre-seed funding round led by Google Ventures. The round was also backed by CapitalT, Climate VC, SystemaNova, Force Over Mass, and ANIM.
The funds raised will be used for team expansion, product development, and scaling up the platform’s capacity to serve more customers and suppliers.
Founded in 2022, Cur8 provides high-quality portfolios for carbon removal. The platform buys carbon removal credits from suppliers and develops carbon removal portfolios. This includes direct air capture, enhanced rock weathering, and durable soil carbon. The company plans to sell carbon credits at GBP 150 (USD 186) per carbon removal and expects to bring down the price further. Cur8 stated that it has already provided carbon removals for landmark royal events, including the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant, the State Funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II, and large-scale events like British Summer Time and All Points East.
