Thunes, a cross-border payments infrastructure provider, has raised USD 60 million in Series C funding led by Marshall Wace, with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners and 01Fintech. This round brings the company's total funding up to USD 190 million.
The company plans to invest the newly raised funds in scaling its capabilities, launching new solutions, enhancing its network, and deepening its presence in key markets such as China, Latin America, and the Middle East.
Thunes has expanded its mobile wallet network to around three billion accounts (from around 720 million in May 2021) and also connects about four billion bank accounts globally. The company further noted that it has processed transactions worth ~USD 50 billion since its inception.
