Hydrosat, a geospatial data analytics provider, has announced the acquisition of IrriWatch, a Netherlands-based irrigation management software provider. The terms of the acquisition remained undisclosed.
The acquisition allows Hydrosat to integrate IrriWatch’s proprietary space imagery technology to optimize farming operations. The latter’s satellite-based crop data and irrigation recommendations will be leveraged into Hydrosat’s proprietary crop classification and crop yield forecasting capabilities. This combined solution will offer geospatial insights for the agricultural industry.
Analyst QuickTake : This acquisition was announced on the heels of Hydrosat’s USD 20 million grant and investment funding announced in April 2023. This funding round included USD 5 million in government grants and USD 15 million in Series A funding led by Statkraft Ventures. The proceeds were used to support the development of the company’s constellation of satellites and analytics to measure water stress. Hydrosat also has plans to build two satellites, with launches expected in early 2024.
