Nyobolt, a UK-based startup developing fast-charging lithium-ion batteries, has showcased a concept EV incorporated with new battery technology, which is smaller and lighter compared to other EV batteries and can be fully charged within six minutes to provide a range of up to 250 km.
The concept EV uses a 35 kWh battery with Nyobolt’s innovative technology that can be charged using existing charging infrastructure. Furthermore, the charging and discharging cycles of the Nyobolt batteries have been tested over 2,000 times without any significant losses.
In May 2023 , Nyobolt collaborated with CALLUM, an engineering and design company, on the development of the concept EV. Looking forward, the company also reported that its battery technology is set to go into production in 2024.
Analyst QuickTake: In July 2022 , Nyobolt raised GBP 50 million (~USD 59.5 million) in a Series B funding round. The company intended to use the funds to deploy its manufacturing facility in the UK and expand its US cell engineering facility. At the time, Nyobolt announced plans to begin mass-scale production of batteries in 2023. This has now been pushed to 2024.
